Presbyterians hold a wide range of Biblically Reformed views.
Longview Presbyterian Church believes that Scripture, the uniquely inspired
Word of God, points us to God’s grace and calls us to respond in gratitude.
GRACE
We experience God’s grace through the Triune God who Scripture reveals as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Triune God acts in our world as Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. The Triune God offers grace and life to all before we can do anything to deserve it.
We experience God’s grace in the Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) as the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ.
We experience God’s grace through both Word and Sacrament. God’s Word teaches us about who God is and we experience the Word of God (Jesus) in relationship with one another. We participate in the Sacraments of baptism and communion as lived examples of God’s grace.
GRATITUDE
We respond to God’s grace as a missional church that believes God’s grace is meant to be shared. This looks like justice in our communal lives and in our world.
We respond to God’s grace by affirming the life and call of all people. Specifically, we affirm the full personhood of LGBTQIA+ siblings and neighbors, empowering them in all levels of leadership and service.
We respond to God’s grace by faithfully responding in worship through songs, prayers, liturgy, sermons, and fellowship to prepare our hearts and bodies to go out into the world.
